Confusing words:

1. Advise, Advice

Advise (सल्ला देणे/सुचविणे) - Offer suggestions about the best course of action to someone.

Advice (सल्ला) - an opinion or recommendation offered as a guide to action, conduct, etc.

Example: He advised me to give her an advice on what to wear for the party.

(त्याने मला असे सुचविले कि, तिने पार्टीमध्ये काय पोशाख घालावा याबाबत मी तिला सल्ला द्यावा)

2. Weather, Whether

Weather (वातावरण) - the state of the atmosphere at a particular place and time as regards heat, cloudiness, dryness, sunshine, wind, rain, etc.

Whether (कसेही असले तरी) - expressing a doubt or choice between alternatives.

Example: Whether you agree to it or not, the weather has become cold.

(तू मान्य करत असशील किंवा नसशील तरी, वातावरण खूपच थंड झाले आहे.)

3. Alter, Altar

Alter (बदलणे) - change in character or composition, typically in a comparatively small but significant way.

Altar (पवित्र आसन/वेदी) - An elevated place or structure before which religious ceremonies may be enacted or upon which sacrifices may be offered.

Example: We need to alter the altar. It is very old now.

(आपल्याला आसन/वेदी बदलावे लागेल. ते खूप जुने झाले आहे.)

4. Principal, Principle

Principal (मुख्याध्यापक, प्रमुख) - first in order of importance; main.

Principle (तत्त्व) - morally correct behaviour and attitudes.

Example: The principal of that school is a man of principles.

(त्या शाळेचे मुख्याध्यापक एक तत्वनिष्ठ व्यक्ती आहेत.)

5. Bare, Bear

Bare (उघडे) - (of a person or part of the body) not clothed or covered.

Bear (अस्वल) -  a large, heavy mammal which walks on the soles of its feet, having thick fur and a very short tail

Bear (कष्ट उपसणे/सहन करणे) - support; carry the weight of.

Example: The bear was bare. He was bearing the weight of the tree.

(अस्वल उघडे-वाघडे होते. ते झाडाच्या वजनाचा भार सहन करत होते.)

6. Whole, Hole

Whole (संपूर्ण, पूर्ण) - all of; entire.

Hole (छिद्र) - a hollow place in a solid body or surface.

There were holes in the whole cake.

(पूर्ण केकमध्ये छिद्रे होती.)

7. Prey, Pray

Prey (शिकार) - an animal that is hunted and killed by another for food.

Pray (प्रार्थना करणे) -  address a prayer to God or another deity.

The elephant fell prey to the tiger and got hurt. Everybody was praying for the elephant to get well soon.

(हत्ती, सिंहाची शिकार झाला होता आणि तो जखमी झाला होता. सर्वजण प्रार्थना करत होते कि हत्ती लवकरात लवकर ठीक व्हावा.)
